· 190 cutoffs are typical state government figures
Australia's points-tested skilled migration uses a pass mark of 65 points to lodge an Expression of Interest (EOI) in SkillSelect. However, passing 65 points does not guarantee an invitation — most rounds invite applicants well above the minimum. The cutoff fluctuates based on occupational demand, state nomination agreements, and total EOI pool size.
If two EOIs have the same score, the one lodged earlier gets priority. Lodge as soon as your skills assessment is approved.
A 190 state nomination adds 5 points and generally has lower cutoffs than 189, making it a faster pathway at the same base score.
You must have a positive skills assessment from the relevant assessing body before lodging an EOI. Processing can take 2–6 months.
